SUMMARY:
Taking this class qualifies you to apply for the Utah concealed carry permit. This is a classroom and live fire in the range shoot and training course.
You will learn the required information to obtain your permit along with legal, safety, carry, storage, and shooting techniques to increase you experience and confidence with your firearm.
This course is NEW, and AVAILABLE FOR A LIMITED TIME. (only one March date for right now)
This course was created in response to requests from customers who wanted to obtain their permit without being stuck in a chair for all four hours!
The course covers the same training as our $25 classroom only course, the differences are.
- Limited to 12 people
- Includes the use of our rental guns
- Includes 50 rounds of ammo
- Approximately two of the four hours of training is done with a gun in your hand
- You will be on your feet without a chair to rest on for these two hours in the range
This course include the required fingerprints and photo for your permit application. (State application Fees are not included)
This class and live fire is interactive and hands on, ask questions about anything regarding your firearm or the legalities of using it. Others attending will be a range of skill level, we have limited this course to ensure safety of the entire group as it is likely some will be novice shooters with limited experience.

This class does not teach tactical training, weapon use, OR DRAW FROM CONCEALMENT, it's a technical class that meets the requirements to obtain the concealed firearms permit only. For Draw From The Holster training, please visit our Handgun 1-3 classes.

REQUIRED GEAR:
- State-issued ID.
- Payment in check or credit card to cover the state fee for the permit. (The fee is $53.25 for Utah residents, $63.25 for out-of-state residents) This fee is paid directly to the state of Utah.
- Closed toe shoes
- Sweatshirt or light jacket as the range may be cold
- You can bring your own eye protection and ear protection if you choose, otherwise we have it at the range for you.
- DO NOT BRING ANY FIREARMS or AMMO TO THIS CLASS. The instructor will have firearms for demonstrations.
- Long pants are preferred

Q. How do I register online?
A. Complete the form on this page, and click “Add to Cart.”
Here are some step-by-step instructions:
STEP 1: READ THIS ENTIRE PAGE.
STEP 2: Using the form on this page, select the date and time of the course you wish to attend.
STEP 3: Select the number of attendees in your group. (This will calculate the registration fee for you.)
STEP 4: Enter the names of all the people in your group in the “Attendee Names” field.
STEP 5: Select the number of people in your group that will be getting fingerprints and photos done at the time of the course.
STEP 6: Click the “Add to Cart” button.
Q. What do I need to bring when I attend the CCW course?
A. Current state-issued ID and your payment in check or credit card to cover the state fee.
Q. Does the $85 include everything?
A. The $85 registration fee covers the cost for you to attend the class, fingerprints, a photo (passport size). Range time, gun rental, 50 rounds of ammo, eye protection, ear protection and target. Utah State requires an additional application fee of ($53.25 for UT residents, $63.25 for out-of-state residents).
Q. Can I bring my own fingerprints and photo?
A. Yes, you can; however, these items are included in your course. Bringing your own will not discount the course.
Q. What are the prohibited acts that prevent me from obtaining a permit?
A. The following will prevent you from approval - DO NOT PURCHASE THIS CLASS IF ANY OF THESE APPLY, you will be denied at the state.
Convicted of a felony!
Convicted of any crime of Violence!
Convicted of any offense involving alcohol, controlled substance or narcotics!
Convicted of any offense involving moral turpitude, or domestic violence!
Adjudicated as mentally incompetent!
Q. Where do we pay for the application fee?
A. The application fee must be paid to Utah State and can be paid with a credit card, cash, or a check when you attend the course.
Q. I am bringing one or more guests. How do I sign up everybody for the course?
A. Using the fields above, select the date of the course you are registering for, select the number of attendees, and enter the attendees names in the appropriate box.
Q. How long is your CCW course?
A. You should allow approximately 4.5 hours from start to finish.
Q. When can I send in my application?
A. You can mail your completed application, along with your fingerprints and photo immediately upon completing of the course.
Q. How long does it take to receive my permit?
A. You should allow for approximately 35-40 days for the BCI to process your application. If you have submitted your application more than 40 days ago and have not received your permit, you can check the status of the application by calling the BCI at 801-965-4445.
Q. What if my application get rejected?
A. You will have to call the state and try to figure it out, if its over a simple mistake on the form, they will work out the details and you may have to re-apply, if its because of a valid reason (such as one above) you will have to hire a lawyer if you want to fight about it with them. (we have not seen anyone win on these issues noted above)
A. There are no refunds from ready gunner for the cost of the course, or the state for filing fees for rejected applications.
Q. What if I can’t make it to the class? Can I reschedule?
A. Yes, but please try to make it as this is a limited persona class, email luke@readygunner.com with as much advanced notice as you can to get you rescheduled for another date.

Q. Is there a “sales pitch” in the class?
A. We offer a variety of additional training classes, you will find them here on the site, a ready gunner representative will hand out a brochure of the classes at the end of the class, a discount for additional classes will be offered at the end of the session.
A firearms insurance representative will be on site as well if you would like to sign up for personal firearms, carry and use insurance.
