SUMMARY:
This class builds from Rifle foundations and adds a number of new variations to improve and expand on the fundamentals.
- Multiple shooting positions (Standing, kneeling, prostrate, etc.)
- Home defense movement, strategies and techniques.
- Rifle safety best practices.
- Fundamentals of Rifle movements, sight, grip, trigger.
- Body mechanics while moving.
- Presentation drills.
- Target acquisition and vision training.
- Follow-up shots-Target transitions.
- Field Stripping your rifle.
- Use of a Sling.
- How to determine and set a "zero" on your rifle.
- Rifle Safety best practices.
- Fundamentals of Rifle manipulations.
- Proper sight alignment.
- Loading and Unloading your firearm.
- Managing recoil.
- Body Positioning.
- Rifle presentation drills.
- Target Acquisition.
- Vision Training.
- Follow up shots for target transitions.
TIME COMMITMENT: 2 - 3 hour days, (for a total of 6 hours)
PRICE: $200
SETTING: Classroom and range
This course will have a short safety briefing before entering the range and will then be help entirely in the range.
You will be shooting in front of the regular range bays.
The class will end back in the classroom where you instructor will teach you how to field strip your gun.
Eye and Ear protection must be worn at all times while in the range. (electronic ears are recommended)
MAXIMUM NUMBER OF STUDENTS: 12
PREREQUISITE: RIFLE Fundamentals - or equivalent training or experience.
REQUIRED GEAR:
- Ear protection
- Eye protection
- Suitable range attire
- Closed toe shoes
- Shooting pad is optional
- AR-15 or equivalent (if you have an unconventional rifle, please ask first before signing up for the class)
- Minimum 3 - 20+ round rifle magazines.
- 200 rounds of ammunition
- 1 rifle magazine pouch
- Baseball style cap
- Water bottle for hydration
WHAT’S NEXT?:
After taking Rifle Movement and demonstrating your proficiency in safety and technique, we welcome you to join our Rifle Defensive class. If at the end of taking this course you are not sure if you have grasped the techniques taught in Rifle Movement, please take a moment and speak to the instructor to see if they recommend you move on to the Rifle Defensive course, it may be recommended you to attend a skills class to get more practice and build the needed skills.
These include: Skills maintenance Weapons transitions and Skills maintenance Move and Shoot.
Rifle Defensive - Defensive introduces you to photo realistic targets, good guy vs bad guy images and is designed to help prepare you mentally with decision making capabilities of assessing the proper use of force, justification for the use of your firearm, building on fundamental techniques while increasing the stress of the situations to allow for practice of a heightened encounters.
This will include moving and shooting scenarios and drills with split second decision making in a live round environment.
